"BambooShoot" by taketarou(竹太郎) - taketarou(竹太郎)
A popular springtime dish in Taiwan and Japan is steamed fresh bamboo sprouts. Like many seasonal plants, bamboo shoots are harvested for a very short period. We saw many stands along the roads we travelled. Our host promised us he'd served some for dinner that evening. It came to the table, steamed whole and then cut into bite-sized pieces. The bamboo shoot was drizzled with a very light mayonnaise. The bamboo is slightly sweet, and just tender. I admit that I ate half of the portion. Unfortunately, this evening we had left our camera in the room (this is the evening we ate the fish we selected at the trout farm). The image above was copied from the internet.
